Brazil, located in South America is a country which is larger than the continental United States and composed of vastly diverse regions. North of Brazil is the Amazonian rain forest region with its dense jungles and its extensive river system which covers nearly half of Brazil.
The jungle in South America is called the Amazon Rainforest, also known as Amazon Jungle and Amazonia. It is the biggest rainforest in the world. The majority of the Amazon rainforest is contained within the boundaries of 10 South American countries. Those countries are Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
The Amazon River jungle is the world’s largest forest and it’s often described as the lungs of the earth. Its dense vegetation covers more than three million square miles of land, and stretches across nine countries. The world first came to the Amazon in search of the mythical Eldorado, the city of gold. What the explorers found instead was what still attracts visitors to this day; trees as tall as skyscrapers, tens of thousands of species of plants and animals, and unique and fascinating cultures that call this region home. . . .
