WE are looking for a Villa in Venice for two people for three nights on the water, starting Sept. 22 through Sept. 25th. we are looking for a Villa for two people in the Tuscany area for the week starting Sept. 25 through October 2nd. then a villa on the Amalfi coast for the week starting October 2nd through October 9th then something in Rome starting October 9th through October 12th. All in 2010

Venice is the most unique city I have ever been too. It’s extremely romantic too. Make sure you research the restaurants online before going – there are SO many tourist traps with bad quality food.

I used 1000travelsites.com when planning our trip. It searches pretty much every travel site on the web and compares the flight/hotel prices for you in one place. They have way more listings than kayak. I was able to get a very low fare and a 4 star hotel at 2 star price.

Totally agreed that Venice is as picturesque as it gets! I’ve never been there for the Carnival (though that’s on my bucket list), but I love Venice in the winter. Cold & wet, yes. But the streets are uncrowded, and you get a real feel for the city — something you don’t find so easily when there are a million tourists.

I went there last year just before the Carnival. I think it is one of the best times to visit Venice. You can still see some of the famous costumes and at the same time miss most of the crowds.

It is next to impossible to take a bad photo in Venice. It is definitely one of the most picturesque places I’ve been to.

Hald – I’d agree with you about being a great place to visit, and worth the money. We can’t all afford to go there all the time, but at least once in your life, it’s really worth seeing.

I’m sorry to learn that a city as beautiful as Venice, will be lost before we know it. The sounds the scenery, all sounds beautiful beyond a few words can describe. Just looking at the pictures, makes me want to buy a boat and live in a stream that follows a street with villa’s and old buildings on either side. Great article, you made me wish I was Italian.

In my point of view Italy and Paris are one of the best places to visit in Europe. Its worth the money.
